The Funk Junkies

w/ Whiskey and The Kidney Stones, Coal, Classified

The Funk Junkies Are Back! Formed in 1990 the quintet hit the Baltimore rock scene running and immediately became a local favorite by club owners due to their high energy live show and large fan following. Never a dull moment was or is had at a Junkie show. The band's original songs like "Blow my mind", "Got it going on", "Hell in a Bucket" and "Soul" were littered with hooks and riffs that all great rock bands are made of. It seemed like only a matter of time before the Junkies would go national bringing their music to the masses, but due to contractual differences between management and record labels that never happened. So after a few years of playing Baltimore's venues and touring up and down the east coast the band took a much needed break and went on hiatus. This allowed all the band members to pursue other projects, and get refreshed, but it wasn't long before the clubs began calling again asking for more shows citing that the Junkies were still in demand and why deprive the fans. The Junkies agreed and saw this as a way to stay in touch with their awesome dedicated fans who were really the special source that helped make the band who they were. This style of thinking went on for years, regardless of where the band members were or what other projects they were in they all always found their way back to each other for another Funk Junkie show. After 24 years the Junkies decided it was time to not only play more but to also write and record new songs for all the fans that stayed true to them at all times over the years. 3 new songs were recently released "The road to hell", "Death of me" and "Here we are now" and all still capture the fun energetic life of the 90's Junkies but with a modern twist that allows the band to compete in today's rock world... When in doubt, come see The Funk Junkies rip it up, and experience the ride for yourself. Who knows when it will come again!
